Naomi Judd’s daughter Ashley Judd revealed her mother’s cause of death this morning during an appearance on Good Morning America. “She used a weapon….my mother used a firearm.”

Naomi Judd, half of country’s award winning duo The Judds, died at her home on April 30th. Her death was originally attributed to ‘mental health’ issues.

Variety reports that Ashley told ABC TV’s Diane Sawyer that she was deputized by her family to discuss her mother’s death in order to shed light on the disease and shine a light on a path for fans that need help. “That’s the piece of information that we are very uncomfortable sharing, but understand that we’re in a position that if we don’t say it someone else is going to.”
