Since the mid-80’s Shreveport was home to the historic Fair Grounds Field. Soon, the field will be demolished to the ground, and only our fond memories will remain.
As a kid growing up in Shreveport, there was absolutely nothing more exciting than getting to watch our MLB-affiliated Shreveport Captains play baseball at Fair Grounds Field. In fact, on my desk I still have a mini-Captains helmet that they used to sell ice cream out of at Fair Grounds Field.

For years, citizens and politicians alike have argued over the eventual fate of Fair Grounds Field. One side hoped for a rejuvenation of sorts, while the other side wanted to demolish the un-used and borderline unrecognizable stadium.
This week, the demolition of Fair Grounds Field is officially underway, and we can’t help but wonder what in the world went wrong over the past three decades.
