George Strait Celebrates 25-Year Anniversary of “Pure Country” With Vinyl Edition & Special Concerts

George Strait will celebrate the 25-year anniversary of Pure Country by releasing the soundtrack on vinyl for the first time on Sept. 15. In addition, George will spotlight the soundtrack during back-to-back concerts at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sept. 1 and 2.

Pure Country, released in 1992, marked George’s first starring role in a major film. George played the role of Dusty Chandler, a disillusioned country singer who returns to his Texas roots to sort out his life. Dusty eventually picks up the pieces and goes back to the stage, with his first show taking in place in Las Vegas.

Pure Country scored impressive box office numbers, despite lukewarm reviews. The soundtrack album produced the hit singles “I Cross My Heart” and “When Did You Stop Loving Me,” topped the country albums chart and sold more than 6 million copies. Though George received plaudits for his acting, he never took another starring part in a movie.
